Wildlife Photography and Safari Photo Shoot with Karen Schuenemann & Nikon – 2 Part Workshop

This is a two-part workshop including a wildlife photography lecture and an animal safari photo shoot.
- Wildlife Photography Lecture at Samy’s Camera in San Francisco Saturday, October 12th 11am-1:30pm
- Wildlife Safari Hands-On Shoot at Safari West in Santa Rosa, CA (Nikon gear loan available) Sunday, October 13th, 7am-2pm
On Saturday October 12th, Karen Schuenemann will lead a lecture in the Samy’s Camera San Francisco location. Karen will teach you how to produce some amazing imagery. She will offer techniques that will change your persepective and teach you the nuts and bolts of Wildlife Photography. Karen will not only review the technical aspects of wildlife photography, but she will also discuss the essentials of animal behavior. On Sunday, October 13th, the class will resume in Santa Rosa, California on a private safari at Safari West where attendees will put these techniques into practice.
The field portion of the class takes place at Safari West in Santa Rosa, CA. During your hands-on shoot, Karen will be challenging you to make the very best images that you can. Nikon representatives will be in attendance as well and they are bringing along camera bodies and lenses for attendees to try out during our shoot. You will be able to check out the Nikon gear from the Samy’s Camera location in San Francisco.
(All camera types are welcome, attendees are not limited to Nikon gear).
The safari will be from 7am until 11am on October 13th. We will have a barbeque lunch (included in the price of the workshop) at noon. At 1pm there will be a small animal presentation.

Attendees must be familiar with the basic functions and menus of their camera.
Karen Schuenemann is a local Wildlife and Bird photographer. She most recently was awarded a Highly Commended Award-Bird Behaviour in the 2018 Wildlife Photographer of the Year sponsored by the London Natural History Museum. In 2017 she was the Professional Category Honorable Mention in the National Audubon Contest, one of the top five awards. Her work is currently hanging in the London Natural History Museum, and has been included in shows at the San Diego Natural History Museum, The G2 Gallery, Palos Verdes Art Center and Armenia Conservation Show. She has been published in Nature’s Best, Audubon Magazine, USA Today, NANPA, Shadow and Light Magazine, and American Photo Magazine. In addition, she has garnered numerous awards from Best in Show in Los Angeles County Fair to Honorable Mention in the National Park Contest. She currently leads workshops to a variety of locations with her company, Wilderness At Heart Photography.
